Changing my diet and lifestyle to become healthier

When I was growing up, my mom always told me that her biggest regret was not being able to eat the foods she loved. She would tell me how much healthier it would be if we could cook with fresh ingredients every night and how sad she felt because there were no healthy options in our small town. Now, as a mother of two little ones myself, I know how important it is for both my children's health—and mine!—to eat clean whole foods as often as possible.

MAKE YOUR FOOD CHOICES

The first thing you need to do is make your food choices.

  • Choose foods that are rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Fiber helps to keep you full longer so it can help with weight loss. Vitamins and minerals provide energy for the body, so their absence could lead to fatigue or weakness; it also keeps blood sugar levels stable which means less cravings for sugary drinks! Antioxidants are important because they protect cells from damage caused by free radicals which cause inflammation throughout our body (and can contribute to disease).

  • Choose lean proteins such as chicken breast or fish instead of red meat; this will reduce cholesterol levels while giving you an extra boost of protein every day!

It’s important to keep in mind that there are many other factors that contribute to weight loss; this is just a simple guide to choosing foods that will help you reach your goal. If you still need help, talk with a dietitian or physician about how you can improve your eating habits and overall health.

It’s important to remember that weight loss is not a race! If you have a goal of losing 20 pounds by the end of the year, take it one step at a time. Start with small changes such as eating breakfast every day or substituting unhealthy snacks for fruit in order to get started. Once those changes become habits, work on adding another healthy habit into your lifestyle until eventually they all become second nature!

SIT LESS AND MOVE MORE

Sitting less and moving more is the best way to get your healthy on. You can start by sitting less, then slowly work your way up to standing every hour or so.

If you find yourself sitting at a desk all day, try getting out for an hour every other day. If you’re feeling too lazy for that, stand up and walk around in place until something feels better than sitting still. You should also make sure that whatever activity you are doing during this time is enough to keep up with what needs doing (eat breakfast! shower!) but not so much that it becomes unhealthy (running marathons).

If there are ways of making these changes more manageable then great! But if not then just stick with what works best for YOU!

The bottom line is this: you can’t change your life overnight. But by making small changes like those above, you’ll be able to start feeling better right away, and then work towards a healthier lifestyle in the long run!

GET SOME SUN AND FRESH AIR EVERY DAY

Sunlight is good for your health. It helps you to produce vitamin D, which is essential for the formation of bones and teeth. Vitamin D also helps to strengthen your immune system as well as giving you more energy. You can get some sunlight by going outside or sitting in front of a window with curtains open during the day while wearing sunscreen on your skin if necessary.

Sunshine gives us fresh air and reduces stress levels which will have positive effects on our bodies because it means less strain on our hearts, lungs etc., making us healthier overall!

Sunlight is good for your skin, too. It helps to prevent acne and keeps your complexion clear and glowing.

It also helps you to get a good night’s sleep, which is important for your health. Sunlight can help reduce stress levels and make us feel happier.

AVOID PROCESSED FOODS & SUGAR

Avoid artificial sweeteners completely. There are many different types of artificial sweeteners out there such as Splenda (sucralose), Stevia (stevia leaf extract) and Aspartame (aspartame). These all have side effects on our bodies such as headaches, migraines and even seizures! If you want to use an artificial sweetener then make sure it has no calories and is natural because they tend not to agree with our bodies after awhile so try finding something else instead :)

Knowing where your food comes from is important, and knowing the source of your food helps you make better choices. Eating locally is the best way to ensure clean food, so eating less processed foods will also help you eat healthier.

The health benefits of eating local include:

  • Freshness. When it comes to fresh fruits and vegetables, nothing beats being able to get them straight from where they were harvested or picked at peak ripeness. This means that no longer will stale apples sitting on shelves for months on end beat out their fresher counterparts when it comes time for you to choose between two baskets full of fruit!

  • Environmentalism (and money). Locally sourced products typically cost less than national brands because there are fewer middlemen involved in getting them from farm gate to retail store shelf (and thus reducing transportation costs). In addition, buying local reduces carbon emissions by eliminating air travel across state lines; this saves fuel while increasing profits due in part so consumers can afford higher quality jams without sacrificing taste buds--something every human deserves regardless of income level or socio-economic status."

DRINK PLENTY OF PURE WATER EVERY DAY

Water is essential for life. It's in your blood, it helps with digestion and flushes toxins from the body, it keeps you hydrated and energized, it promotes healthy skin and hair (and a strong immune system), and it keeps your brain working at peak performance.

EAT THE RAINBOW

The rainbow is a natural way to get a variety of nutrients. Eat the rainbow!

Blueberries, red peppers, oranges and yellow squash are all examples of foods in the rainbow that you can eat as part of your healthy diet. These foods will help you get more vitamins A and C which are essential for good health and energy levels. Examples include: blueberries (rich in antioxidants), tomatoes (high in lycopene), carrots (high in beta carotene) or watermelon (high in fiber).

HEALTHY LIFE IS ABOUT MENTAL WELL-BEING AS MUCH AS PHYSICAL WELL-BEING.

You may be surprised to learn that mental health is just as important as physical health. In fact, the two are intricately linked.

It’s easy to think of your body as something separate from your mind—but they are not! They work together to support each other. Your body needs you to take care of it so that it can do its job well and help keep you healthy, but if you don't take care of yourself mentally and emotionally too then there will be consequences for both body AND mind!

In order to improve your mental well-being:

  • Eat a balanced diet - this includes nutrient dense foods such as fruits & vegetables (which contain antioxidants), whole grains (which provide slow burning energy), legumes/beans/lentils (high in protein), nuts & seeds (high in Omega 3s). There should also be balance between carbohydrates from fruit vs starchy carbs like potatoes or rice which provides quick energy without lasting long term benefits since these foods aren't nearly as nutritious when consumed regularly over time . . .this means no cookies after dinner! Instead try having some dark chocolate instead which contains antioxidants like vitamin E found naturally within cocoa beans while still providing plenty of protein too ! Try eating more fish than chicken because it's low fat compared with red meat which contains saturated fat instead!"

Conclusion

The good thing about healthy eating is that it’s not just about what you eat, but also how you eat. In the end, the choices we make are influenced by our emotions and beliefs—and we can change them. We have the power to create new habits in our lives!
